Workbox meets at 10am on the 1st Thursday of the month in the parish hall library for craft activities and a chat to make items for church use and for charities such as the Poole Hospital Neo-Natal Unit and the Salvation Army.
At our May meeting we “gathered in” all our work knitted and sewn since January and particularly through Lent. As well as baby clothes for the Neo-natal Unit at Poole we have concentrated on knitting red hats which are given to the premature babies, and this gives the nursing staff an immediate view of who is in need of special care. Thanks to the sterling effort of all our members we are able to send 61 hats. We have also made our usual large amount of small cardigans and some complete layettes for baby to wear home. As usual one of our members makes some beautiful very tiny christening gowns for the Stillborn babies which go to the SPRING unit (Supporting Parents and Relatives through Baby Loss) also at Poole. We also have some small blankets and larger jumpers which will be delivered to the Women’s Refuge in Bournemouth.
